Over $3,300 Raised for Charity at 'The Past and the Furious' Car Show

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- August 22, 2013 -- The first annual community car show held earlier this month at the Wilmington Air Park raised over $3,300 for charity, according to the event's organizing committee. 'The Past and the Furious' car show was sponsored by Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) and its subsidiaries on Saturday, August 10.

Proceeds from the show will be split among the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the United Way and local food pantries, along with contributions given during ATSG's annual fall charity drive.

"Seventy-one cars were entered into the show," said Rhonda Stevens, Supervisor of Customer Service for Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services, a subsidiary of ATSG. The Best in Show was awarded to a 1967 Dodge Charger entered by Eric Sams of Sabina, Ohio, and the winner of the Kent Roades Memorial Award for longest distance traveled was John Coulson of the Cincinnati area. "We're already looking forward to next year's event," added Stevens, "when we plan to expand the judging categories and include motorcycles as well."

The event also featured local vendors, kids' activities, a DJ, raffles and door prizes.

"We're very happy with the way it turned out," said Tanya Woodford, Supervisor of Accounting for ABX Air, also an ATSG subsidiary. "I want to thank everyone who offered their time and efforts to make this show such a success."
