AMES PARTNERS WITH GREAT OAKS ON TRAINING-AND-EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
WILMINGTON, Ohio - June 30, 2011 – Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services, Inc. (AMES) is creating jobs for dislocated workers by partnering with Clinton County, the Great Oaks Career Campuses, and Workforce Services Unlimited, a non-profit grant administration organization.
The Junior Tech/Structures Program provides funding for career training as a certified, licensed aircraft technician. Under the program, those who have lost their job through no fault of their own may qualify for grant funding, admission to an accelerated training program at the Laurel Oaks campus, and be considered for employment by AMES.
"Many of our existing employees came through the Laurel Oaks program," said Jim Newell, AMES Director of Heavy Maintenance. "Now we're partnering with Workforce Services Unlimited as well, so that we can continue to find qualified local applicants in the numbers we need."
According to Harold Cullum, Workforce Services Unlimited Program Director, the partnership "targets growth jobs in the area and provides opportunities for workers to grow with AMES as it further expands its business in the Clinton County area."
"Ever since we opened our doors in May 2009, we've grown by leaps and bounds," added Michelle Imhulse, AMES Human Resources Generalist. "We're looking to fill another 50 or more positions this year."
Great Oaks Director of Community Relations Jon Weidlich praised the partnership. "Great Oaks' success has always been dependent on providing training and education that's valuable and needed in the community, and AMES' leadership has created a direct link to a growing company." Weidlich also said that he is optimistic that the program will attract more than enough students to hold the class.
To qualify for the Junior Tech/Structures program, an individual must be a dislocated worker, have a High School diploma or GED, meet Great Oaks educational eligibility requirements, and commit to a 10-month accelerated training program at the Laurel Oaks campus that involves attending classes every weekday from 4:30 to 11:00 p.m. beginning August 2011 and ending June 2012. Questions about eligibility may be directed to the Clinton County Transition Center, 100 West Main Street in Wilmington, 937-382-8425.
Interested individuals should visit AirborneMX-jobs.com and apply for the Junior Tech/Structures position.
"In addition to the Junior Tech/Structures program, we're also looking for people who already have a strong background in aviation maintenance and could test for the FAA Airframe and Power Plant Licenses after a brief refresher class," said Imhulse.
